Marine Corps Reserve WNC Toys for Tots reports not enough toys donated in Madison for Madison kids

There aren't enough toys donated from Madison residents for Madison kids to enjoy this Christmas, says Marine Corps Reserve WNC Toys for Tots Organizer Angie Rice Keith.

The 501(c)3 nonprofit has to go to the Henderson County warehouse to make sure all the kids signed up have a Christmas present.

Keith helps coordinate the toy drive in both Madison and Yancey counties, and said she has placed containers at various locations in both counties - and hopes that more businesses may be willing to place a container at more locations.

The donation boxes will be collected Dec. 4. Parents and legal guardians have until Nov. 21 to call her at 828-777-0944 to sign up children from birth to 13 years old. They must live in Madison or Yancey counties.

She said the biggest need is for 1 to 2 year olds. Those toys must have a 12 month + label on them to meet safety guidelines, and many donations have a 3 years+ label. They also need items for 8 to 13 year olds.

The toys need to be new and unwrapped. There is also an Amazon Wish List:
