Flock camera perspectives from 3 local Madison County residents

Sarah Scully, Anchor/Reporter

15-year-old 8th generation Shelton-Laurel local Laressa Patterson speaks for the Flock system as the Madison County Sheriff's Office used the license plate readers to help catch the suspect in her father’s domestic-related homicide.

26-year-old 8th generation Grapevine local Logan Clark said he can see both sides of those both for and against using the 12 cameras positioned around Madison County.

26-year-old 9th generation Sandymush local James Lesley said he is against the Flock system.

On an editorial note:

I had originally planned to do only one comprehensive story on Flock, but the June 9 county commissioner meeting inverted how I would have normally put this story together. Instead, you have gotten to see the footage in its entirety to the greatest possible extent.

I am, though, very concerned about freedom of speech for those who have opinions, but are afraid of getting shouted down in the comments section. Originally, both Logan and James preferred to be anonymous sources of opinion. No one would go on camera in the “for” position on Flock.

I would like to really thank the courage of those who are willing to brave public opinion and state their views so eloquently.
